THE L.E.T PROJECT
A young girl at New World School reads from her book
The L.E.T (Let's Educate Them) Project is certainly one of the most important projects we can undertake. An uneducated population is bound to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. We at LUC believe the "people perish for a lack of knowledge". The importance of educating the future about their past, and present, is essential if they are to be moved out of poverty into self-reliance.
For this reason, LUC is supporting New World School, a local school ran by Pastor Smith Noel. Currently, the school is being ran right out of Pastor Noel's home, which he has offered full use of in order to operate and teach the more than 350 students that gather there throughout any given school year. Pastor Noel currently resides in the US, but frequents this fast growing school on a regular basis to check on progress, and take inventory of their needs.
What LUC intends to do is to provide financial support to New World School. They are very much in need of school supplies, benches, books, and so much more. Many of the kids do not have any lunch during school hours since their parents cannot even afford to send them off with even a sandwich. Trying to learn on an empty stomach is very hard to do. LUC would like to change that and offer meals to those who could not afford a meal.

Students at New World School
One of the biggest problems facing the parents of this community right now is the lack of funds to keep the children in school. Too often a child is sent home because the parents are no longer able to afford schooling. With tuition set at $15-20 per month, it is hard to imagine anyone having trouble coming up with this amount. Yet kids are sent home on a regular basis due to missed payments. The L.E.T Project will allow us to implement a scholarship program in hopes of helping a child stay in school.
The L.E.T project is an on-going project. Your support will certainly make the difference between the child that learns and the one that gets sent home, the one that eats and the one that goes hungry.
